Escape From Tarkov is in all likelihood still slated to get a Steam release in the future

Another first-person shooter video game is in town. Developed by Battlestate Games, Escape from Tarkov is starting to take the industry by storm. Unfortunately, the game is only available on PC – but it comes with its own launcher. This has prompted many to begin to wonder when is Escape from Tarkov coming to Steam?

When asked about a Steam release in a 2016 interview with Wccftech, developer Pavel Dyatlov explained that the tactical shooter will make its way to the platform once the full release happens. “We will first release the game on our platform and then we will launch on Steam, that’s the plan,” said Dyatlov. Dyatlov also toyed with the idea of Escape From Tarkov coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but he then clarified console ports will only happen after the full PC launch if they do become a reality. With development taking longer than expected, console ports have gotten more and more unlikely, but a Steam release is still very much on the way according to an FAQ on the game’s official website. Escape From Tarkov has remained in early access much longer than originally planned, however, and a year ago players on Reddit speculated that the game has not released on Steam because the developers would receive a lot of refund requests over the state the game was in. More recently, however, consensus among players has been that while the game is in better shape, the developers will still likely only release to Steam once the game is complete.

The FAQ on the Escape from Tarkov page suggests that the game will receive a testing phase on Steam, but it has not been updated since 2015. With all of this in mind, we believe that the game will eventually release on Steam, when it’s complete… but that might be a while away yet.
